Responsibility details are not available.
A short-run kit of the ironclad CSS, later USS Atlanta in 1:350 scale from the Czech manufacturer ROP. The model captures one of the ironclads of the American Civil War as she appeared between 1862 and 1864. It is a collector model from a smaller run, and with production of this kind the parts tend to be resin.
Atlanta was an ironclad (a casemate ironclad) built by converting a steamer and taken into Confederate service in 1862. In June 1863 the Union fleet captured her in Wassaw Sound, after which she was repaired and served under the Union flag as USS Atlanta, among other places on the James River. Casemate ironclads of this kind represented the peak of naval protection for their day and played a significant part in the naval operations of the Civil War.
With short-run resin models, first wash the parts to remove the mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off; bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and protect your breathing while sanding. Paint the hull and the armored casemate with an airbrush, bring out the weathering of the recesses with a wash and set the finished model on a stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
