Asano Racing Service Starlet KP61 captures the winning car of the Japanese Starlet Grand Cup of 1982 in 1:24 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The injection-molded kit from Hasegawa rests on one hundred and sixteen parts and the finished car measures just under sixteen centimeters. The reference material came about in cooperation with the team, which kept the surviving example, so the shapes are right even in the places that tend to be rebuilt on old race cars.
The Toyota Starlet KP61 was the last small rear-wheel-drive Toyota, and that is exactly why a strong racing community grew up around it. The one-make Starlet Grand Cup series was one of the cheapest routes onto the circuits in Japan. The 1982 title went to the machine with start number eighteen, driven by Takeo Asano, and the enclosed decals match that very car.
Against the production guise there are new moldings: a body without the sunroof, front and rear downforce elements, an anti-roll bar, modified suspension, brakes, wheel rims and smooth racing slicks. The rims stand out when they are lightly polished after spraying and the gaps around them picked out with a dark wash. The flank of the body is a large smooth area on this car, so every fingerprint will show on it even under the paint.
The set comes without paint and without glue; both have to be bought in addition.
