The commander figure Commando Kieffer - Soldier 8 from BlackSnake Model, 1:35 scale, suitable as the center of a military scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
The eighth position of the line differs from the others in that the supplier lists it as a group commander. The figure is therefore not meant to take a firing stance but a gesture the others go by: pointing out a direction, looking back, a raised arm. It brings a story into a diorama, because the other figures group themselves naturally around it.
The French commando was small, just under two hundred men in all, and it was divided into tiny detachments of a few people each. The commander of such a group went at the head, decided on the spot and had no time to wait for an order from above. The overall commander of the detachment was Philippe Kieffer, after whom the unit still carries its name. The soldiers were recruited from sailors, fishermen and civilians who had left occupied France and reported for British training.
On a figure with a turned head and a gesture, watch the direction of the gaze so that it agrees with what the figure is pointing at; otherwise the scene comes across as disorganized. The arms are often supplied separately, so try them dry first and only then fix them. Leave the rank badges until the end and use the thinnest brush you have on them.
A single figure is sold, unpainted. Other equipment is not included.
