The regiment is based at Bayonne in the southwest of France, and the position of the garrison is no accident: the nearby ocean and the Pyrenees make it possible to train an amphibious landing, a mountain march and parachute jumps practically within a single week. The variety of the training then shows in the equipment the men carry, and it is exactly that which carries most of the detail on the figure.
The set from the French brand BlackSnake Model takes the form of one resin casting printed at high resolution. The scale is 1:35 and the figure is sold with no paint and unassembled. The manufacturer handles the whole process from design to printing itself, so the runs are short and the detail stays sharp.
Once the supports are removed, go over the surfaces with a nail buffer; it rids them of matte scratches faster than sandpaper. Apply the base in a thin layer, otherwise the engraving of the pockets and seams will disappear. Deal with the face only at the end, when you have the tones of the equipment settled and know how light the skin shade has to be for the figure not to step too far forward in the scene. Reach for a very fine brush and paint thinned more than would seem necessary on the edges of the sleeves and pockets.
It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and a base are not enclosed.
