1:35 French Soldier (Optic Eryx)

The real subject

Eryx is a French short-range antitank guided missile carried and fired by an infantryman. The gunner holds the target in the sight and the missile is guided to it in flight, so the operator stays at the optics after the shot. The French army brought the system into service in the 1990s, so the figure belongs to present-day equipment rather than to the historical ranges. The designation in the product name points precisely at the sighting part of the system.

What the set contains

The package holds one figure of a French soldier in 1:35 scale. A standing adult figure measures roughly five centimeters in this scale, so the figure matches models of military vehicles in the same scale as well as dioramas. How many parts the figure is made up of and how the weapon is fitted is given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.

• figure of a French soldier with the Eryx system

• the make-up of the figure is given in the manufacturer's instructions

Building and painting tips

Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully, so that the engraving of the folds of the uniform and of the straps is kept. Wash and degrease the figure before painting, as paint does not hold on a greasy surface. Paint the face and the hands before you settle the figure into a scene. Small parts of the weapon are easier to paint separately and fit at the end. Choose the kind of glue according to the material of the figure and the procedure according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Who it is for

The figure is for modelers who are building a scene with present-day infantry or who want to see an accompanying squad beside a model vehicle. It also serves on its own as an exercise in painting a uniform. Paints and glue are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
