MRP-A091 DARK EARTH

Mr.Paint MRP-A091 Dark Earth – MRP AQUA, Acrylic 17 ml

Mr.Paint MRP-A091 Dark Earth is a water-thinnable acrylic modeling paint from the MRP AQUA line by Slovak manufacturer Mr.Paint. It is not a kit, but a paint supplied in a 17 ml dropper bottle. The paint is ready for airbrush spraying practically straight from the bottle, but it can also be applied with a brush. It dries to a satin (semi-gloss) finish, onto which decals, washes, and filters can be applied directly. Compared to lacquer paints, it has a significantly milder odor, so it can be used even indoors.

The Dark Earth shade corresponds to the dark, earthy brown camouflage color of the Royal Air Force per the British standard (BS 450). Together with the Dark Green shade, it formed the basis of the upper-surface camouflage — the so-called Temperate Land Scheme. British day fighters wore it from the late 1930s until 1941, and bombers carried it for practically the whole war. You will find it on Hurricanes, early Spitfires, Blenheims, Wellingtons, and aircraft deployed over North Africa and the Mediterranean.

Use

• Airbrush: spray straight from the bottle; for fine transitions and shading, it can be thinned further with water or Aqua thinner from the same brand.
• Brush: apply in thin coats and let them set; do not go over paint that is already tacky.
• Base: the best adhesion is achieved on a degreased, primed surface.
• Wash the airbrush and tools with water right after use — dried acrylic is much harder to remove.
• Combine with other shades from the British Second World War palette for a period-correct camouflage scheme.

Who it is for

For modelers who build British Second World War aircraft and want an accurate camouflage shade on an acrylic base without a harsh odor. Thanks to easy thinning with water, it is suitable for advanced modelers as well as those just starting out with an airbrush.

A water- (acrylic-) based paint. Work in a well-ventilated space, do not breathe in the sprayed aerosol — use a respirator and extraction when spraying. Protect from freezing and direct sunlight, and close the bottle tightly after use. Keep out of reach of children.
