L-29 Delfín kit in 1:72 scale. A model of the first jet aircraft of Czechoslovak design.
Responsibility details are not available.
The L-29 Delfín was the first jet aircraft designed and built in Czechoslovakia. It emerged at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s as a trainer and proved so successful that it became the standard trainer type across the air forces of the entire Eastern Bloc. Over three thousand were built, and they flew in more than a dozen countries, from Europe through the Middle East to Africa.
For modelers, the Delfín is appealing mainly for its variety of color schemes. Alongside military schemes, there are aircraft in bold trainer liveries, civilian colors, and versions still flying at air shows today. A single type thus offers dozens of different models without repeating the same build.
The kit contains bare plastic parts without paint. Glue and colors must be purchased separately. In 1:72 scale, it is worth paying attention to the cockpit, which on this type is well glazed and the interior will be visible.
Suitable for modelers who already have a few aircraft kits under their belt.
In 1:72 scale, it is worth paying attention to the thin edges of the tail surfaces. Sanding down the leading and trailing edges will give the model scale fidelity faster than any added detail.
