Injection-molded plastic parts for building the German Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter in the F-2 version and in the early form of the F-4 version. OVERTREES is the designation of the line in which Eduard offers the sprues with the plastic parts alone, without the rest of the contents of the boxed issue.
The F series, for which the name Friedrich took hold, was a thorough aerodynamic reworking of the earlier Emil. The wing was given rounded tips, the horizontal tail lost its struts, and the nose with its slender cowling and large pointed spinner was given a smoother shape. The armament changed too: in place of the wing guns the aircraft carries a cannon built into the engine and firing through the propeller hub, supplemented by machine guns above the engine. The engine is an inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 601.
The package is aimed at the modeler who has already built one kit of the same type and wants further airframes for the collection, or who builds from his own decals and accessories. It holds the sprues alone, because the rest of the contents is not part of this issue.
Instructions are usually not in the package of this line, so obtain the procedure beforehand from the manufacturer against the manufacturer's part number. Cut the parts off with nippers a little away from the part and level the remainder of the gate with a file, so that you do not tear the plastic. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. The package holds plastic parts only. Decals, accessories, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
