The Carro Armato M15/42 was the last Italian medium tank to reach series production. It received a longer gun of 47 mm caliber and a gasoline engine. In 1:100 scale the model measures around five centimeters.

The M13/40 and M14/41 line just about sufficed at the start of the war, but by 1942 it was falling behind everything that stood against it. The answer was the M15/42: the hull was lengthened by about fifteen centimeters, the armor was thickened and the diesel engine was replaced by a gasoline unit with a higher output. The most important change was made to the gun: the caliber stayed at 47 mm, but the barrel was lengthened and the penetration rose markedly as a result.
Series production got going only in 1943 and managed to deliver roughly two hundred examples. Most of them never fought under the Italian flag: after the September armistice they were taken over by the German side and committed in the Balkans and in the defensive fighting in Italy. A few vehicles also reached the units of the new Italian republican army.
A five-meter real subject comes out in 1:100 scale at roughly fifty millimeters, which makes the tank the dominant piece of a smaller formation. The turret has pronounced edges that are worth emphasizing, and the sides of the hull are smooth enough for the Italian three-color camouflage to stand out on them. If you are building the late service, German crosses over the original markings suggest themselves.
