A modeling item in 1:72 scale for the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-28 fighter prototype, known under the Allied designation Bob.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kawasaki Ki-28 was a Japanese single-seat fighter prototype from the second half of the 1930s. It came about for a competition of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force, in which it faced two further designs, and it differed from its rivals in its powerplant: instead of a radial engine it received a liquid-cooled V-form twelve-cylinder engine, that is a solution Japanese fighters of the day used only exceptionally. It was fast, but it fell behind in agility and did not succeed in the competition. The winning type, the Nakajima Ki-27, was built in series, and only a few prototypes remained of the Ki-28.
The name Bob did not belong to the aircraft in Japanese service. It comes from the Allied system of code names by which Japanese types were designated during the Second World War, because the original Japanese designations were confusing for Allied crews. A code name was thus given even to machines that never got into the fighting.
This is an accessory for plastic aircraft models in 1:72 scale. Exactly what the package holds and how the contents are worked with is given by the manufacturer's instructions; before use, therefore, compare the contents with the model it is to go onto. Work on a clean surface, protect the parts and the sheets from damp and direct sunlight, and glue or apply nothing before you have tried the procedure dry.
For builders of Japanese aircraft equipment of the 1930s and for collectors of prototypes that never reached series production. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
