A short-run plastic kit of the British Vickers Viking 1B airliner in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Valom, in the Airlines edition with the markings of civil operators. The kit is injection-molded and usually comes with clear parts, small photo-etched parts and decals for two airline color schemes. The exact number of parts is not stated here; the instructions in the package are the binding source.
The Vickers VC.1 Viking was a British twin-engine airliner of the post-war era that first flew in 1945. It drew on the design experience with the Wellington bomber and became one of the first British post-war transport machines; around 165 were built. The 1B version had a lengthened fuselage for more passengers. Vikings flew with a number of European airlines and did a good deal of work in the revival of post-war civil transport.
Separate the short-run parts with a sharp knife and clean them up, glue the fuselage joints with thin cement for plastic and fill and sand any gaps – the smooth fuselage of an airliner tolerates no unevenness. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate. The glossy metal and colored airline finishes come out well sprayed with an airbrush over a primer; apply the civil operator decals onto a gloss base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
