Yahu Models 1:35 instrument panel for the B5N2 Kate

This is a finished instrument panel in full color by Yahu Models in 1:35 scale for the Japanese Nakajima B5N2 Kate carrier torpedo bomber. It is not a kit: the panel is made as a fine photo-etched part with printed dials and labels and it is self-adhesive, so it is used as a direct replacement for the plastic instrument panel in the cockpit of the model. The result is crisp and three-dimensional without laborious hand painting of the dials.

Use

• Remove or sand away the original plastic instrument panel from the model.
• Peel the Yahu panel off the backing and stick it in its place; slight adjustment of the shape is sometimes needed, because kits from different makers differ a little.
• The detail can be brought up with a drop of clear varnish in the dials for the effect of glass faces.
• Installation is done before the fuselage and the cockpit are closed up.
