In skirmish games with figures the fighting is not only about who shoots whom. Most scenarios build victory on taking or holding particular points on the table, and these have to be marked somehow. Improvised coins or scraps of paper draw attention away from carefully painted figures and are moreover easily confused with the terrain.
A clear marker solves both. It is visible where the point lies, but it does not shout: the base shows through, so the playing area stays legible and the marker does not look like a foreign body. The basic clear rendition has the further advantage that it can be dressed up afterwards to your own idea: a layer stuck onto it, a piece of colored paper laid under it, or a coat of varnish.
It is practical when counting points at the end of a round as well. A marker in place shows clearly what was taken and what was not, and players do not have to argue over whether a figure stands close enough: the edge can be laid right against it.
The set suits players who want their table tuned as well as their army, and clubs where there is frequent play and where aids that last are worth having. Acrylic does not fray like card and stands up to being carried in a box between games.

Figures, terrain and rules are not included in the package: this is purely gaming accessories, obtained to go with what you already have on the table.
