The FH range introduced a new generation of long-distance tractor units in the 1990s, and the designation with sixteen belongs to the version with the largest engine, that is a 16-liter inline six-cylinder diesel. That moved the output of production trucks to figures that previously belonged only to specials, and made the marque a certainty for heavy transport, the carriage of oversized loads and mountain routes.
The medium cab height is a compromise between the tallest form for long-distance transport and a low floor for distribution. It offers room for sleeping as well as a reasonable overall height of the rig, and that is why it is probably the one most often met on the roads in Europe.
Trucks in 1:24 scale are bulky models and the build is counted in weeks rather than evenings. In return they offer room for your own conception: company livery, chromed accessories, lighting or a trailer of your own choice.
The model also suits as the basis for a rig with a trailer, where the length and the proportions of the whole combination really come out. In a display case it will then take up a lot of room, but it is the most rewarding way to show such a tractor unit. Anyone who wants to go further will add cab lighting and the markings of a real haulier.
