An injection-molded plastic kit of the postwar Czechoslovak Avia S-199 fighter in the small 1:144 scale from Mark I. This release captures the version with a bubble canopy for a better view out. The box is usually put together as a set of two models with decals for machines of the Czechoslovak Air Force from 1948 and 1949. Check the exact contents and the number of marking options against the particular box.
The Avia S-199 came about in Czechoslovakia after the Second World War as an improvised solution: Messerschmitt Bf 109G airframes were joined to the Junkers Jumo 211 engine, because the stocks of the original Daimler-Benz engines had been destroyed. Combining a heavy bomber engine with a fighter airframe gave the aircraft an unruly character and earned it the nickname Mezek (the Mule) among pilots. The machine also went down in history as the very first fighter of the Israeli Air Force in 1948.
In 1:144 scale the parts are tiny, so work with tweezers and glue with a light touch using liquid cement for plastic. Paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage and mask the bubble glazing. Lay the colors on with an airbrush in thin coats so that the fine engraving shows.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
