Model rivets with a flat round head 1.7 millimeters in size. They serve to replace the simplified rivet relief on models of military machinery.

Riveted joints are omnipresent on military machinery and the eye looks for them by itself. Injection-molded plastic can capture them only in a simplified way: the heads tend to be flat, blurred, or the mold leaves them out altogether, because they could not be released. Separate rivets solve this shortcoming differently from repairing the relief: new heads of the same shape and spacing are simply installed.
These are rivets with a flat round head, that is with a low domed crown, not with a sharp point and not with a flat plate. The 1.7 millimeter size is the more noticeable of the small dimensions; it suits places where the rivet should be visible at first glance: armor plates, hatch hinges, brackets and the frames of superstructures. The rivets are sold by the piece in one size, so for a model you choose exactly the one that matches the subject.
First level the original simplified relief by sanding. Draw the spacing out with a fine pencil or by a template, because irregularly set rivets are more conspicuous on a finished model than none at all. For a firm seating a hole is pre-drilled at the spot, the rivet is placed in it with tweezers and secured with cyanoacrylate glue. Before painting, degrease the surface and run a primer over it, otherwise the paint will not last on the smooth heads. The particular preparation procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
For modelers who build machinery with riveted construction and want their rivets crisp and identical, and for building modifications and conversions, where the original surface disappears under abrasive paper anyway. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
