A hex nut with a bolt in the 1.4 mm size. A small part which on a model replaces a molded bump with a real joint and casts a shadow of its own under the edges.
Responsibility details are not available.
The eye recognizes a bolted joint before it can name it, and light is what decides. A molded bubble blends into the panel, because it never stood out of it. A nut set in separately lies above the surface and a narrow strip of darkness is left under its edge, the kind no coat of paint or dry brush can imitate.
The part offered is a hex nut complemented by a bolt shank, in the 1.4 mm size according to the figure in the name. The pair acts as a place where two parts really do meet, not as an ornament laid on a smooth surface.
A dimension of around one and a half millimeters fits joint groups that carry a load: suspension hangers, frame feet, the flanges of thick plates or the mounts of towing gear. It is precisely there that the subject tends to have heavier hardware, and precisely there that the viewer's eye stops most often.
Tweezers with fine jaws are a necessity; fingers have no business here. It works well to pre-drill a shallow recess, so that the part does not sit on the surface but in it. Meter the glue with the tip of a wire: a drop spread around the edges fills exactly that shadow for which such a detail is obtained. Once dry, the edges are only lightly revived with the edge of a brush, so that they stay crisp.
On a real machine it is not an ornament. A bolted joint group exists so that it can be undone again some day, and that is exactly what brings it to the surface: the designer cannot hide it, because a mechanic has to reach it with a wrench. A model that respects this logic looks inhabited, as though somebody really maintained it.
