A set of parts in 1:32 scale for reworking a Revell kit into the Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-1 version with a pressurized cabin.
Responsibility details are not available.
A conversion to the early Bf 109 G-1 version is done differently depending on which base you start from. The molds of the individual makers differ so much in wall thickness and in the breakdown of the parts that one universal casting would not fit properly anywhere. This variant is therefore shaped for kits from the Revell brand, and with that base the demands on fitting should stay at their lowest.
The pressurized cabin came about because of tasks at altitudes where an ordinary oxygen mask was no longer enough for the pilot. Machines with it were sent against reconnaissance aircraft and used for escort, and although relatively few were built, they are among the most interesting forms of the whole family. For a builder that means the finished model is not another piece in a row of similar ones but a representative of a short and well defined production series.
Before you reach for a file, go through the whole plan of the modifications and note which kit parts will stay unused. Put the whole front section of the fuselage together dry before the first drop of glue and look at the joints against the light. Most problems are revealed by precisely that gap letting light through. Let the resin castings rest for a day in the warm; small deformations from the mold even out that way. Thin parts can be bent back in hot water, but only once and very carefully. If you are preparing a scene around the aircraft, think about where the viewer will look from: the pressurized glazing has a different pattern of framing, and so it pays to turn the fuselage so that the cabin stays in the main view.
