A dark blue paint tone in a bottle holding 60 ml, meant for the Brabham BT55 single-seater. The consistency is set so that it can be applied straight with a spraying tool.

The Brabham BT55 remains one of the boldest attempts that has ever driven onto a starting grid. The designer seated the driver almost lying down and tilted the turbocharged inline four-cylinder by tens of degrees onto its side, so that practically nothing rose above the engine and the air could flow straight to the rear wing. The car earned itself a nickname after a flat iron because of that, and its silhouette is unmistakable to this day.
The bottle holds sixty milliliters of dark blue, that is a quantity that will cover a single-seater with its sidepods and a few test samples besides without difficulty. The paint is ready for immediate spraying, so the search for the ratio with thinner falls away.
Saturated dark shades are treacherous on large flat areas. Every ripple left by sanding is mirrored in them, and a badly thinned paint creates matte blotches on them that are apparent under sharp light even after varnishing. This tone is mixed so that it covers in two passes and does not therefore have to be applied to a needless thickness. Thanks to that it keeps a sharp transition on the edges of the sidepods and does not clog the fine engraving around the body panels.
To get a full gloss it suits sealing the surface with a clear layer; the paint itself dries to an even tone with no graininess.
