Responsibility details are not available.
The kit captures the British heavy cruiser HMS York in 1:700 scale, that is in the most widespread scale for warships. The model fits into the line of British cruisers that Trumpeter has long been issuing in this scale, so a whole group of Royal Navy vessels of comparable rendering and size can be built with it.
HMS York was a Royal Navy heavy cruiser of the interwar period and the lead ship of the class of the same name. Against the older and larger cruisers of the so-called County line she had a reduced main-caliber armament arranged in three twin turrets, which showed in a lower displacement and in a shorter, more compact silhouette. In the Second World War the ship took part in the fighting in the Mediterranean and in 1941 she was heavily damaged in Suda Bay on Crete, which ended her active service.
First glue and sand the hull, and only then build the superstructures, otherwise you will not reach the seams later. Leave small parts on the fret as long as possible and cut them off only just before gluing. Spray the deck and the sides rather than brushing them, otherwise the brush marks will wipe out the fine engraved detail. On British ships of that period it pays to grade the gray shades and to build them up in thin coats. A dark wash will bring out the engraving and the seams, while a fine lightening suits the edges of the superstructures. Railings, ladders and fine antennas can be added with photo-etched sets, which are sold separately for cruisers in 1:700 scale.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
