The Artwox Model veneer deck in 1:700 scale for the Japanese battleship Nagato is a self-adhesive sheet of natural wood with the laying of the planks printed on it, cut to the shape of the deck areas of the model. Cut for the Fujimi 421483 kit.

An accessory for builders of ships in a small scale. The pre-cut part of thin natural veneer has a self-adhesive layer on the back and the laying of the planks, gaps included, printed on the face. It is stuck straight onto the plastic deck, which therefore does not have to be laboriously painted and scribed, and it gives a model a depth of material that neither a printed nor an engraved imitation reaches. The veneer is cut for the Fujimi 421483 kit.
The Nagato was a Japanese battleship completed in 1920 and her main armament consisted of 410 mm guns. During her service she went through several rebuilds that changed the form of the superstructures, the funnels and the extent of the open deck areas. Because the outline of the wooden parts differs between individual states and between individual kits, veneer decks are always cut for a particular model and are not universal.
The key is the procedure for removing the backing film. Lay the part on dry first and check its position against the openings for the turrets and the superstructures. Then peel off only a small strip of film at one end, fix the part in that position and only then pull the film further off while pressing the veneer down gradually. If the adhesive layer is exposed all at once, the veneer sucks down off the axis and can no longer be removed without damage. Trim small overhangs with a new blade directly on the model.
The deck is an accessory, not a kit of the ship. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
