1:700 Italian Navy RN Littorio 1941 (ForTrumpeter 05778)

The real subject

The Littorio was an Italian battleship that entered service shortly before Italy entered the Second World War. She belonged to the most modern units of the Regia Marina, had main armament of 381 millimeter guns in three turrets and fought in the Mediterranean. The year 1941 in the name refers to the particular state of the ship the deck matches.

What the set contains

A wooden deck in 1:700 scale for the Trumpeter kit with the manufacturer's part number 05778. The wood gives the deck a grain that paint on a plastic part only imitates, and sets the wooden areas apart in color from the steel ones. The procedure for fixing it and the extent of the parts supplied are given in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

• Rid the surface of dust and grease before gluing and let it dry completely.
• Lay the deck on dry first and check the openings for the superstructures and the turrets.
• Work from one end and press the area down gradually, not all at once.
• Work with clean hands, as wood takes up grease and color from fingers.
• Whether the surface is varnished afterwards is given in the manufacturer's instructions; varnish darkens wood noticeably, so try it on an offcut first.

Who it is for

The set is for a builder of ship models who wants a deck with a faithful grain of wood and precise transitions to the steel areas without laboriously painting in individual planks.

The ship kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
