A wooden deck 1:700 for the Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi is a veneer accessory with the laying of the planks printed on it and with a self-adhesive back. It will replace the painting of the flight deck on a plastic kit with the faithful structure of wood. Cut for the Hasegawa 227 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An aftermarket accessory to a ship kit, not a model in its own right. The set holds a veneer cutout of the flight deck in 1:700 scale with printed gaps between the planks and with a self-adhesive layer on the back. On carriers the flight deck is the largest continuous area of the model, so it is precisely there that the difference between a coat of paint and real wood tells most. The veneer is cut for the Hasegawa 227 kit.
The Akagi was a Japanese aircraft carrier that came about by the conversion of a partly built hull of a battlecruiser into a carrier. She then went through a fundamental reconstruction, after which she had a continuous flight deck laid with wood and an island superstructure. The smoke ducts led out onto the side of the hull and the hangar decks housed under the flight deck were characteristic features as well.
The order of work is essential on carriers. Finish and paint the hull, the hangar sides and the superstructure first, and only then glue the veneer on, or the wood will be soiled by filler and overspray. If you still have to spray something after gluing, mask the deck with a paper template cut to the outline, not with adhesive tape, which could damage the print. Guide the gluing itself from the bow to the stern and take the film off in sections. Apply the deck markings only onto a surface sealed with varnish.
This is an accessory to a ship kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
