A combined accessory for a modeler who already owns the kit. According to the name it contains a self-adhesive veneer deck with the laying of the planks printed on it, a masking template and photo-etched parts. The set does not replace the model; it only moves its detail on.
The veneer comes in a natural light shade and many modelers leave it just as it is. If you want to shift the deck into a warmer or darker tone, reach for a very thinned stain or oil paint and always try the procedure on an offcut; wood absorbs unevenly and the shade does not come back. Apply it in thin coats and let the area dry between them.
What adds the most conviction is picking out the gaps. A very thin dark wash applied to the surface is drawn into the grooves between the planks by capillary action; wipe the excess away with a cloth drawn along the planks, not across them. Proceed in small stretches so that the wash does not dry on the surface. Finally fix the whole deck with a thin coat of matte clear; it will protect the wood from being soiled by fingers and bring the sheen into line with the rest of the model.
The accessory is cut for the particular Fujimi 460031 kit, so check the match with your version. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
