Japanese Navy Aircraft Carrier Taiho Full Hull is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese aircraft carrier in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi, in the full-hull version.

A model of the Japanese aircraft carrier Taiho in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. According to the name the injection-molded plastic kit is in the Full Hull version, that is, with the whole hull including the underwater part, and is displayed on a stand. The 1:700 scale is the standard for collections of ships of the Second World War, so the model fits in well among the other units.
The Taiho was the first Japanese aircraft carrier with an armored flight deck, which was meant to let her survive a bomb hit and carry on flight operations. She was marked by an enclosed forward part of the hull and an island joined to a funnel angled out to the side. She entered service in the spring of 1944 and became the flagship of the carrier force. Her combat career was very short. On the nineteenth of June 1944 she was hit at the Battle of the Philippine Sea by a torpedo from a submarine and after several hours she was destroyed by an explosion of accumulated aviation fuel vapors. The case became a textbook example of the importance of venting fuel systems.
Build the flight deck and the hull as separate subassemblies and join them only after painting, as masking is otherwise difficult. Sand the parting line of the hull wet with fine paper. The anti-aircraft armament and the booms break easily; fit them at the very end. Use a thin liquid cement for plastic applied into the joint on the tip of a brush. The model gains markedly from photo-etched railings and nets, which are supplied separately. The particular shades of the Imperial Japanese Navy differed according to the shipyard and the period, so go by the instructions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
