Japanese Navy Battleship Yamashiro Full Hull is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese battleship in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi, in the full-hull version.

A model of the Japanese battleship Yamashiro in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. According to the name the injection-molded plastic kit is in the Full Hull version, that is, with the whole hull including the underwater part, and is displayed on a stand. In this scale a battleship is a rewarding model with plenty of detail on the superstructure.
The Yamashiro was the second unit of the Fuso class, that is, of the older type of Japanese battleships built before the First World War. The main armament consisted of twelve 356 mm guns divided into six twin turrets placed along the whole length of the hull. In the interwar period the ship went through an extensive modernization in which an exceptionally tall multi-level superstructure arose, and that became the recognition mark of both ships of this class. The Yamashiro was sunk on the night of 25 October 1944 in Surigao Strait during one of the last battles fought mainly by the gunfire of surface ships.
Most of the work lies in the tall superstructure, which is best built and painted as a subassembly of its own and fitted only onto a finished hull. Sand the parting line of the hull wet with fine paper and check it against the light. Use a thin liquid cement for plastic applied into the joint on the tip of a brush. Leave the gun turrets free to rotate and fit them without cement if the design allows. The model gains markedly from photo-etched railings, which are supplied separately. The particular shades of the Imperial Japanese Navy differed according to the shipyard and the period, so go by the instructions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
