A set of photo-etched metal parts in 1:700 scale for detailing a plastic kit of the Chinese guided missile destroyer Type 051C. You will not find a hull or a superstructure in the package: the set serves to have the coarser plastic parts of the finished model replaced by thin metal ones, which match the real thickness of the structures on deck better.
The Type 051C is a Chinese guided missile destroyer that arose as an interim solution: a long-range surface-to-air missile system of Soviet, or rather Russian, origin was placed on a hull derived from an older domestic design. A conspicuous recognition feature is the large rotating radar above the rear superstructure, which differs at first glance from the flat panels of the newer Chinese ships. Only two units were built, so it is a fairly rare silhouette that you will recognize at once in any collection of modern destroyers.
Cut the sheets of etching with a sharp scalpel right at the tab that holds a part, and do it on a hard surface: breaking them out with your fingers bends the part. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two rules. They are bonded with super glue applied in a tiny amount; any excess goes white and floods the fine detail. Before painting, degrease the metal and spray it with primer. Fit small upright parts such as masts and antennas at the very end, so that they are not in the way during further handling of the model and do not get bent.
