Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:700 scale from the Waterline range. The package holds two vessels: the American ocean-going submarine of the Gato class and a smaller Japanese submarine chaser. The models are made as waterline with a flat bottom, so they stand flat and suit a diorama with a sea surface. Waterslide decals are included.
The submarines of the Gato class made up the main force of the American submarine fleet during the war in the Pacific and many of them became famous for successful war patrols. Japanese submarine chasers, by contrast, served to escort convoys and to fight submarines. The pairing of two opponents on one base offers an interesting contrast.
Waterline models need no stand. Separate the small parts carefully and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. The submarine is usually sprayed in a dark gray, the Japanese submarine chaser in a shade of naval gray. The look is brought to life by bringing the details out and by light weathering; both models can be set on a shared mock-up of the sea surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The glue, the paints and the accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
