A pre-cut self-adhesive mask in 1:35 scale for the GAZ-233014 Tiger armored off-road car. It is not a kit but an accessory used to mask the parts of a model before spraying. The set is cut for the kit from Meng — a set of the same name for the Zvezda kit exists as well, so the target kit is the only distinguishing detail here and has to be watched when ordering.
The Tiger is a boxy 4x4 armored car with a tall cab. The glazing consists of flat panes set into pronounced frames of the body, recessed on the armored version and supplemented with side vision ports — all straight edges and right angles, which tape finds hard to hold in a single plane. The second tedious part of the job is the wheels: large off-road tires with a coarse tread and center discs, where the rubber has to be separated from the painted rim all the way round and without steps. A mask cut to the shape of the particular parts shortens both to a few minutes.
Offer the mask up dry on the part concerned first and compare the cut with the frames and edges. These sets are cut to one kit; if you are building another, the difference shows on the very first window. Degrease the surfaces, press the mask down with a blunt toothpick from the center outward and spray in thin coats so that paint does not run under the edge. Line the circular wheel masks up on the center of the hub, not on the outline — otherwise you get an off-center edge that shows on the finished model.
