The Fw 190D-9, established among modelers as the Dora, is the late version of the German Fw 190 fighter. Compared with the earlier machines with a radial engine it was given the liquid-cooled inverted V12 Jumo 213 and with it a lengthened nose with an annular radiator, because of which it looks at first glance as though it had a radial engine. The engine cowling is therefore the feature on the Dora a viewer notices first.

Cut the excess material and the marks of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and then sand the area with fine abrasive paper so that you do not round over the edges of the cowling. Ordinary liquid cement for plastic does not hold on the part: use cyanoacrylate, and a two-part adhesive on a larger mating surface. Try the join to the fuselage dry before you reach for the glue, and level any gap by sanding. Wash the cowling in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent before painting and let it dry off.
