An injection-molded plastic kit of the American battleship USS Iowa (BB-61) in 1:700 scale from Tamiya, from the Waterline Series. The model has the hull at waterline level, three main-caliber turrets, an articulated superstructure and rich anti-aircraft armament. A name plate for display is enclosed.
The USS Iowa is the lead unit of the American class of fast battleships of the same name. Its main armament was nine 406 mm guns in three turrets and the ship combined high speed with heavy armor. The Iowa took part in the fighting of the Second World War in the Pacific, later in the Korean War, and after modernization it served even in the 1980s. The Iowa class represents the peak of the development of American battleships.
Clean up the joints of the hull and the deck carefully. Apply the basic shade with an airbrush, set the wooden deck apart and bring it out with a fine wash. The railings and the radars will come into their own once they are replaced with a photo-etched set (not included in the package). The model can be displayed on a stand or in a diorama.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
