Artwox Model 1:700 a masking template for the American battleship USS Massachusetts BB-59 is a pre-cut mask for spraying on a plastic kit. The target kit is the Trumpeter 05761.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a ship model, but a masking aid to a plastic kit. The template is pre-cut to the shapes of the Trumpeter 05761 kit and serves so that during spraying a precise division arises between the areas with different shades.
On American battleships the deck and the sides of the hull differ markedly in shade, so the transition between them cannot be hidden. The usual order is to spray from lighter to darker: the shade of the deck first, let it cure properly, then stick the mask on and only afterwards the gray of the sides. With the reverse procedure the dark paint is harder to cover and you have to apply more coats, which in 1:700 quickly clogs the fine details.
Press all the edges of the mask down with a blunt tool, not with a finger: a greasy fingerprint reduces the grip. Thin the paint and spray at a lower pressure in several light passes; lead the first of them so that it seals the edge of the mask. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has set, slowly and at a sharp angle back over itself. Any small overflow can be put right later with a brush, but it is always simpler to prevent it.
The mask is cut for the Trumpeter 05761 kit, so check the match with your version. Neither the kit nor paints are included in the package.
