This large injection-molded plastic kit captures the American aircraft carrier with nuclear propulsion, the lead unit of the Nimitz class, as she was in 2005. The hull can be built at full height on a stand or as a waterline. The package holds a richly detailed flight deck, the island superstructure, the elevators, a display stand and a set of carrier aircraft and helicopters.
USS Nimitz entered service in 1975 as the first of the class of large aircraft carriers with nuclear propulsion. She serves as a floating base for the embarked air wing and carries a broad range of aircraft. In her 2005 state, machines such as the F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet, the E-2 Hawkeye, the EA-6B Prowler and SH-60 helicopters operated from her deck.
We recommend a thin cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush; the flight deck calls for careful masking of the markings. Paint and mark the hull and the deck before fitting the aircraft and the small parts. This is a kit with many parts, so count on a longer build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
