An injection-molded plastic model of the American battleship USS North Carolina (BB-55) in 1:700 scale from the brand Trumpeter. According to the parts supplied, the hull can be built either as a full hull with a stand or in the waterline version. The package holds plastic sprues with finely engraved decks and decal sheets. The exact number of parts and of the marking schemes is given by the instruction sheet in the package.
North Carolina was the lead ship of the class of the same name of American fast battleships, commissioned in 1941 as the first modern battleship of the US Navy built after a long pause. She carried a main caliber of 406 mm in three gun turrets and a strong anti-aircraft armament. In the Pacific she served mainly as an escort for the aircraft carriers and for the shelling of shore targets. She came through the war and today she is preserved as a museum ship.
Decide in advance between the full hull and the waterline version — the waterline stands out on a water base, the full hull on the stand supplied. Glue the small parts of the superstructure and of the turrets with a thin modeling cement for plastic. Added realism comes from photo-etched railings and aerials (they are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise). Apply a primer, spray the camouflage scheme in thin coats with an airbrush and accent the recesses and the decks with dark washes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
