An Artwox Model 1:700 wooden deck for a model of the battleship USS Texas BB-35 in the blue finish is a self-adhesive veneer with pre-printed plank laying, toned to blue instead of natural wood. Meant for the Trumpeter 06712 kit.

An accessory for a ship kit in 1:700 scale. The basis is the same veneer sheet with a self-adhesive back and pre-printed plank laying as in the natural variant, but the printing is done in a blue tone. The parts are cut to the outline of the deck of the Trumpeter 06712 kit; please check the match beforehand.
A blue-toned deck suits a build in the state where the deck areas were not left in the natural shade of wood but were unified with a dark coat of paint. Imitating such a surface by hand is treacherous, because painting with a brush or an airbrush easily loses the plank pattern and the area collapses into a uniform patch. Printed veneer solves both at once, that is, the tone and a readable texture of the laying, and on top of that it holds a sharp boundary against the surrounding steel.
Glue the deck only once the painting of the hull and superstructures is finished, or the shade will not match and overspray will mark it. Before laying it, compare the tone of the veneer with the paint you used on the surrounding areas, and even out any difference with a patina rather than by spraying over the veneer itself. If you plan a final varnish, choose a matte one, as gloss would shift the blue tone optically. Always test the method on an offcut left over after the parts are taken out of the sheet.
This is an accessory for a plastic kit. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
