A detailed plastic kit of the American battleship USS West Virginia (BB-48) in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. The hull uses multi-axis molding and can be built as a full hull or as a waterline version. The box contains photo-etched parts, a base with an engraved nameplate and decals.
USS West Virginia was the last ship of the American Colorado class, with main armament of 406 mm. She was heavily damaged in the attack on Pearl Harbor, then raised and, in the course of the war, thoroughly rebuilt and modernized; in this new form she took a prominent part in the final Pacific operations.
Choose the full-hull or the waterline variant. Glue the fine photo-etched parts (radars, masts, railings) with cyanoacrylate. Pick the engraved wooden deck out with a glaze and a wash, and paint the hull with an airbrush in a period gray or camouflage scheme. Assemble and paint the small floatplanes separately. The higher parts count makes the kit better suited to more experienced modelers.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
