Artwox Model 1:700, a wooden deck for the American battleship USS West Virginia in the state of 1941 is an aftermarket accessory to the Trumpeter 05771 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of the ship but an accessory to the Trumpeter 05771 kit in 1:700 scale. The package holds a veneer deck with a self-adhesive base and with the printed laying of the planks, which is glued onto the plastic deck and replaces it to the eye.
The USS West Virginia was an American battleship of the Colorado class, taken into service in the first half of the 1920s. The main armament consisted of eight 406 mm guns in four twin turrets. The year in the name of the set refers to the particular state of the ship shown, which differs from the later forms in the arrangement of the superstructures and the light armament.
Veneer behaves differently from paint and it is good to count on that with the parts that follow. It adds a thin layer on the deck, so the pegs and pins for the superstructures, the masts or photo-etched railings either have to be cut through in the veneer, or the opening is pricked out only after gluing. Railings glue into veneer worse than into plastic; it is more reliable to glue them with super glue to the edge of the deck or to the hull, not flat onto the wood. Think it over in advance, as drilling into glued-on veneer afterwards risks pulling the fibers out.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model of the ship. The kit itself, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
