This resin accessory from Quickboost (a range of the maker Aires) replaces the plastic cannon barrels with exact resin parts. The Israeli Skyhawks (IDF) were rearmed with a pair of 30 mm DEFA cannon in place of the original American 20 mm guns - and it is exactly this detail that the set renders faithfully for models in 1:72 scale.

The real subject

The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was a light attack aircraft used both from carriers and from land. The Israeli Air Force deployed it in large numbers from the end of the 1960s and, among other modifications, exchanged the armament for the more capable 30 mm DEFA cannon, which improved firepower against ground targets.

Usage tips

• Separate the parts from the casting blocks with a sharp knife or a saw and clean them up.
• Wash off the mold release residue before gluing.
• Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• The fine muzzles can be carefully drilled out for maximum realism.
