The masking templates 1:72 A5M4 Claude are for spraying the glazing of the Japanese Mitsubishi carrier fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi A5M was the first Japanese carrier fighter of all-metal construction and in the second half of the 1930s it was among the most agile machines of its day. The production A5M4 version flew with an open cockpit, so of all the glazing only a modest windscreen above the instrument panel remains. A small area certainly does not mean easy work, however.
The windscreen of the A5M4 measures barely a centimeter in 1:72 scale and is curved in two directions at once. Adhesive tape puckers on a surface like that, a knife slips along the curve during trimming by hand and the frame then comes out noticeably thicker on one side than on the other. With an open cockpit the windscreen is the first thing a viewer sees, so a crooked frame cannot be hidden. The template is cut to the outline of the windscreen, thanks to which the border comes out symmetrical and the clear area stays free of paint that has run in.
It suits modelers who want a clean frame on this prewar fighter without filing and touching up. You obtain the A5M4 kit itself separately, and the templates are an accessory that gives it its final look.
