An accessory in 1:72 scale rendering the Skybolt air-launched ballistic missile, listed under the designation AGM-48. Intended to be slung under a carrier model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Skybolt was an American air-launched ballistic missile. A carrier took it up to altitude and dropped it, and the rocket motor ignited only after separation from the aircraft. It was planned for strategic bombers, both the American B-52 and the British Vulcan. Development was halted at the start of the 1960s and the missile never reached operational service, so it remains an interesting dead end of the Cold War. The same weapon carried two designations: the original GAM-87 and the later AGM-48.
This is a rendering of the missile itself in 1:72 scale. The range of parts, the method of attachment and any pylons are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The accessory suits building a bomber in the variant with this armament and a presentation on a base beside a model alike.
The parts are not polystyrene and you join them with super glue. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand off the rest; on the slender body of the missile work along the axis, so that no flat spots appear. Wash and degrease before painting. Glue the slung missile on only after the carrying surface has been painted, because otherwise you will struggle to reach it with a brush.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
