Masks for the wheels and for the outer side of the cockpit glazing for a model of the AH-64D Apache Block II helicopter in 1:72 scale, cut to the Academy 12514 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The AH-64 Apache is an American attack helicopter with a crew of two seated one behind the other, with stub wings for armament and with a cannon under the front part of the fuselage. The AH-64D version is a later development stage and the Block II designation distinguishes a production and upgrade standard within that version. The cockpit glazing is divided into several flat panels with prominent frames, so it is laborious to mask on a model, especially at a small scale.
The masks in 1:72 scale cover the wheels and the frames of the glazing, and that on the outer side. The inner side stays with you, so if you want the frames painted from inside as well, prepare masking of your own. The individual parts are cut to the shape of the frames on the Academy 12514 kit, which saves the most work at this scale: the flat panels are small and cutting tape directly on a clear part means risking a nick.
Wash and degrease the glazing before masking. Lay the masks with tweezers and press the edges down along their whole length, so that the paint does not run underneath. Spray the frames with the interior shade first and only then with the top color. Take them off while the paint is dry only to the touch, and pull them back over themselves at an angle. On the wheels the mask covers the tire and leaves the hub exposed.
For builders of attack helicopters in 1:72 scale who want sharp glazing frames without outlining by hand. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
