A set of pre-cut masks, 1:72 B7A Grace - national insignia without a white outline, from Dead Design for spraying the hinomaru instead of using decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but an accessory for a finished model. The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks of the Japanese national insignia in the form without a white outline, that is the red disc alone. The Aichi B7A Ryusei, with the Allied code name Grace, was a single-engine carrier torpedo and dive bomber with an inverted gull wing which, because of the loss of the aircraft carriers, saw use mainly from land bases.
When to reach for the version without an outline
An insignia without a white outline matches schemes where the hinomaru is applied directly onto the camouflage area. The set with an outline is a separate item, so choose according to the particular color scheme you are building, not according to the type of aircraft.
Let the camouflage coat cure thoroughly, otherwise the mask will bite into the paint when it is lifted. Place the mask according to the drawing, press the edges down all the way around and smooth the transition with a toothpick. Spray the red paint in several thin coats perpendicular to the edge of the mask, so that it does not creep under. Under deep red shades it pays to spray a lighter base first; otherwise red covers badly over dark green camouflage. Lift the mask off while the paint is fresh.
