Pre-cut painting masks for a model of the British trainer aircraft BAe Hawk in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The BAe Hawk is a British jet aircraft for advanced pilot training, a two-seater with the crew seated in tandem. It has been in service since the 1970s and, besides the Royal Air Force, a number of other users have taken it on, so it exists in many color schemes, from training finishes to the brightly colored liveries of display teams. It is exactly on schemes like these that a sharp paint edge on the cockpit canopy shows.
Masking the canopy frames by hand with tape is a long job and the result usually shows: the line waves and the corners are left with edges the paint has crept under. The pre-cut masks have the shape of the individual areas, so you only have to lift them off the sheet, settle them on the glass and press them down. The edge then comes out straight and the frames keep the same width along their whole length. The extent of the set and the layout of the individual parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Stick the masks onto a cleaned and degreased clear part before you spray, not after the paint has dried. Press the edges down firmly with a toothpick or the blunt tip of tweezers so that the paint does not creep underneath. Spray in several thin coats; a heavy coat builds a step at the edge that shows once the mask comes off. Take the mask off while the paint is still freshly dry, as it peels away less easily after a longer time. Any adhesive that is left behind can be wiped off with a cloth dampened in water.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery unless stated otherwise.
