This product from the Black Dog model brand is intended for modelers who want to build a German artillery observation vehicle from a basic plastic vehicle. The castings are resin and are added to a finished model; the vehicle itself is not in the package.

What the Beobachtungspanzer UE was

The French Renault UE armored tractor fell into German hands in their thousands after 1940. The Wehrmacht converted it into a number of special-purpose versions, and one of them was the vehicles of artillery observers with a superstructure for observation and signals equipment. The low, fast machine suited the role of a forward observer, because it took cover well in the terrain.

Working with resin

First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears from the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, not with nippers: resin is brittle and cracks. Sand wet and with your airways protected. Cyanoacrylate glue holds the joints; solvent cement for plastic will make no joint here. Before painting, it pays to even out the whole surface with a primer color.
