A photo-etched set of add-on parts for a 1:72 model of the British Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B strike aircraft. It adds to the model the thin elements that an injection-molded kit cannot give.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Blackburn Buccaneer was a British two-seat strike aircraft developed for attacks from very low level over the sea. It was originally created for carrier service and was later taken over by the Royal Air Force as well, where the S.2B version served. Its striking features are the bulky spindle-shaped fuselage and the split tail cone, which opens out sideways and serves as an airbrake.
The set brings add-on parts etched from thin metal sheet. Etching is used where injection-molded plastic would have to be far thicker than the real thickness of the part for production reasons: instrument panels, seat belts, grilles, flaps, latches and small flat stiffeners. The exact content of the fret and the kit the set is cut for should be checked in the manufacturer's references.
Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers, which would deform the thin sheet. Sand the remaining tag down with a fine file. Make the bends over a sharp edge or in a bending tool and follow the etched groove on the back of the part. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a minute quantity, ideally with the tip of a wire. Degrease the metal before painting and go over it with a primer, otherwise paint will not hold on the smooth metal.
The model, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
