Aires 1:72 BMW 801D engine is a resin set of a faithful radial engine for an exposed cowling on German aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set from the Aires brand brings a faithful replica of the German BMW 801D radial engine in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for experienced modelers that makes it possible to model an exposed engine with rich cast detail. It comes into its own on aircraft that this engine powered, above all with the engine cowling panels open. Sets of this kind are often complemented by photo-etch.
The BMW 801 was a German air-cooled fourteen-cylinder two-row radial engine and one of the key powerplants of the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. It powered, among others, the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighters in the A and G standards and also the Junkers Ju 88 bomber. It was distinguished by its compact nose with a cooling fan and by reliable performance, which made the Fw 190 a feared machine.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The engine comes into its own once painted and with the cylinders, lines and wiring picked out; try the fit dry before it goes into the fuselage.
The set is supplied as resin parts, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
