The Australian Beaufighter Mk.21 gets a colored three-dimensional interior on a paper carrier from Quinta Studio, 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Quinta Studio prepared this set for a model of the twin-engine Beaufighter in its Mk.21 version. The details of the pilot's and of the rear station are printed three-dimensionally and colored straight away, and they are carried on sheets of decal paper. It is an accessory for a kit, not an aircraft model. The manufacturer does not specify the exact extent of the set in the name, so go by the instructions that are part of the package. Avoid the decal softener during this work, it would damage the printed resin.
The Mk.21 was the Australian answer to the need for a home-built attack aircraft for the fighting in the Pacific. It was produced in Australia itself and stemmed from the TF Mk.X torpedo version, but it was given its own make-up of armament and modifications to suit local conditions and the supplies available. The machines served over New Guinea and over the island groups of the southwest Pacific, where they proved themselves in attacks on ships and ground targets at low altitude. It is from there that the nickname the type is said to have been given by its opponents comes: whispering death.
The Beaufighter has its cockpit set high and a canopy with a large area of glass, so the interior is well seen once the model is finished. Painting instruments and panels by hand in this scale is a lengthy business and a colored printed interior shortens that stage markedly. Anyone who also builds the rear station of the operator will appreciate that the set covers both parts of the fuselage.
