A decal sheet in 1:72 scale with markings for R4D-6 machines in Japanese naval service. The second part of a series devoted to the C-47 Skytrain transport aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Douglas C-47 Skytrain is the military form of the DC-3 airliner. A low-wing monoplane with a pair of piston radial engines and a tailwheel, it became the most widespread transport machine of the Second World War and in a number of countries flew for decades after it. Under the naval designation R4D the same machines served with the US Navy, and from there the path led to Japan as well: R4D-6s joined the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and flew in its colors. It is to them that this second part of the series is devoted.
Water-slide decals in 1:72 scale with markings for Japanese R4D-6 machines. They replace or supplement the markings enclosed with a kit, so an ordinary C-47 build becomes a particular machine in a less usual form.
The surface under a decal has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise air will be trapped under the film and the decal will go matte. Cut the feature out as closely to the edge as possible, soak it and let it rest on the paper for a while, until it starts to slide freely. Carry it into place along with a little water underneath, line it up and blot the excess water away with a soft cloth from the center to the edges. Over curved transitions and raised detail a decal softener helps. Once dry, spray the model with varnish so that the edges of the sheet disappear.
For modelers who build transport machines in 1:72 scale and want to finish a model in Japanese service. The kit, paints, varnish and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
