A resin detail set, not an aircraft kit. The set of finely cast resin contains the external fuel tank of the American Grumman F6F Hellcat carrier fighter in the F6F-3 and F6F-5 versions, in 1:48 scale. The resin tank has a faithful shape and a clean smooth surface with none of the parting seam you have to sand away laboriously on two-part plastic tanks. The set is intended for more advanced modelers with experience of resin.
The drop tank extended the range of the fighter on escort and long-range missions over the Pacific, and on a model it is clearly visible under the fuselage. A one-piece resin casting does away with the need to glue two halves together and deal with the seam, so the result is smooth and accurate. Once painted and patinated, the tank completes a faithful store under the fuselage of the Hellcat.
This is a resin detail accessory, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package unless stated otherwise.
