An injection-molded plastic kit of the amphibious PBY-5A version of the famous Catalina patrol aircraft in 1:72 scale. In this edition on the theme of the European theater the plastic parts are supplemented by painting masks and a new sheet of well-printed decals with several marking options. The model captures the distinctive high-wing layout with underslung stabilizing floats and the retractable landing gear of the amphibian version.
The Catalina was one of the most successful patrol and rescue aircraft of the Second World War. It was marked by exceptional range and long endurance, thanks to which it patrolled over the oceans, hunted submarines and rescued survivors. The PBY-5A version was amphibious, that is fitted with retractable wheeled landing gear, and could operate from water as well as from land.
Glue the large fuselage and wing with liquid cement for plastic and make sure the main parts are firmly joined. The extensive cabin glazing is best masked with the enclosed masks. Use a filler primer before painting, bring out the lower surfaces and the transitions between shades with fine shading and give the areas under the decals a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
